The Liberia Health Management Sciences University (LHMSU) was established February 2016 to address critical gaps in Liberia's healthcare system by developing skilled and competent healthcare practitioners.
The 2014 Ebola outbreak in Liberia exposed significant weaknesses in the country's health management system and workforce preparedness. These challenges, together with the ongoing shortage of trained health professionals, continue to affect the quality, accessibility and resilience of healthcare services across the country.
LHMSU provides specialized education in some of the most critical sectors of any healthcare delivery system.
Our aim is to strengthen Liberia's health system by equipping graduates with practical skills, leadership capacity and professional ethics which will in turn improve healthcare delivery, and prepare the nation to respond effectively to future public health emergencies.
Our foundation is rooted in the belief that a strong healthcare system depends on competent professionals, effective leadership, accountability, innovation, and service to communities. These principles define who we are and what we stand for.
